The distribution systems and microgrids in remote, rural areas are often of a single-phase nature due to economic viability. Fixed frequency three-phase induction generators (IGs) popular such applications their competitive performance features, utility. This article proposes control approach for injecting power grid from an active phase converter (APC) assisted IG. presented ensures balanced operation the IG even with variable generation. work method using ac auxiliary capacitor that reduces APC pole currents improves efficiency. Closed-form expression current given operating point derived. Based on analysis, expressions, procedure find optimal capacitance is presented. Experimental results provided validate theoretical framework, approach. experimental demonstrate injection 2.4 kW real into at near unity factor proposed APC-IG system.
